Every July the Groton/New London area "explodes" with wonderful sights and sounds from three barges on the river.

BLESSING OF THE FLEET

This late July/early August weekend event includes a Lobsterbake, Fisherman's mass on Sunday and a parade through Stonington Borough to the Front Street docks where the many ships are blessed.
