The newly built 2004 Saint Gregory Hotel is situated in Shoreditch, 6 minutes walk from Bishopsgate and known as the *Creative Capital* of London. From the early *80*'s Shoreditch has been home to numerous *artists* who found great use of the first loft conversions, providing good space to work and live. Since then, graphic design and Internet companies have followed, for similar reasons, plus the advantage of the creative staff on offer. Today, with the creation of the Broadgate Centre and more recently it*s extension along Bishopsgate, Shoreditch has now become the place to live, for the financial sector working in the *Square Mile* of the City of London. That mixture of affluence and creativity has produced trendy, late night bars and restaurants, of which The Saint Gregory is the latest addition. Just minutes away to the south-east of the Saint Gregory Hotel is Whitechapel, the East End of London. Famous for its Victorian past involving one Jack the Ripper, and where walks take place every day, giving various versions of his identity dramatised by Beefeaters from the Tower of London a few rants of Brick Lane. If it is history, albeit London*s alternative and darker past that you are looking for then go no further, the East End provides. Even as recent, when it was run by the Kray Twins, the last occupants of the *Tower*, and such a view of Tower Bridge, when their gangland empire ended in the 60s. However, if it is the tourist areas of the West End you seek, then a short underground train journey of 5 stops, 12-15 mins will see you into the heart of Oxford Street, with Bond Street and Regent Street a short walk. Theatre land is closer still, and one of London*s famous black cabs will take you to the show of your choice in style.
