Yosemite National Park is open year-round. To reach Yosemite National Park, park visitors may fly, drive or travel by train or bus to major cities such as San Diego, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno or Modesto, then pass through smaller gateway cities and towns such as Merced and Mariposa en route to Yosemite. From these gateway towns, visitors enter the park by bus or private vehicle via Highways 120, 120 East, 140 or 41.

Roads in and around Yosemite are generally clear of snow throughout the winter season, except Highway 120 East to Lee Vining (Tioga Pass Road) and the Glacier Point Road beyond the Badger Pass Ski Area, which are both closed in the winter. Although all major roads are kept well plowed throughout the season, the National Park Service requires that automobile drivers carry tire chains. Of all the entrance roads, Highway 140 from Merced is the lowest in elevation and is the least likely to require chains.

This is the entrance for those coming from the south (Fresno, Bakersfield, Los Angeles, and also from Las Vegas).
Highway 120 -Big Oak Flat Entrance-: N
This is the entrance for those coming from the north and north-west (San Francisco/Bay Area, Sacramento, Napa). Not recommended in winter.
Highway 120 East -Tioga Pass/East Entrance-: E
This is the entrance for those coming from the east (Lee Vining, Mammoth, Lake Tahoe). Closed in winter.
Highway 140 -Arch Rock Entrance-: W
This is the entrance for those coming from the west and is the preferred entrance in the winter.

The site of some of the most remarkable culinary events in the country, The Ahwahnee's Dining Room features a 34-foot-high ceiling with large sugar pine trestles that complement the room's granite pillars. Light-filled and uplifting by day, the dining room takes on an intimate mood for evening meals with tall tapers in wrought iron holders.Award-winning breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily. Also award-winning Sunday brunch. Expect to experience culinary delight during your stay here. Dress Code -At dinner, gentlemen are respectfully requested to wear sport coats or dress sweaters and long pants. We ask ladies to wear skirts, dresses, pantsuits or pants that reach below the knee.
